Read this blog about Manuela!
Manuela was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and she has lived in the United States since 2004. She is passionate about international development and worked with nonprofits in Brazil. She has also volunteered in South Africa.
Manuela started working as a virtual volunteer for Amazon CARES in 2008, and in 2010 she was hired to be the organization's Assistant. Manuela has become adept at managing a heavy workload and understanding every facet of Amazon CARES. In May 2013 Manuela was named the new Executive Director of Amazon CARES.
Molly Mednikow, Founder, Director Emeritus
Mednikow founded Amazon CARES in 2004 and lived in the Amazon region until 2008. She returned to the USA part time to open an office from which CARES could grow. In May, 2013 she turned leadership over to Manuela Marzullo. Molly is a Candidate for a Juris Doctorate at Mercer University School of Law. Her interests are animal and environmental law. Mednikow will remain on the Board of Amazon CARES USA as a Lifetime Board Member.
Molly received her B.S. in Political Science from the University of Georgia (1990) and her M.B.A. from Georgia State University (1994).
Shannon Sullivan, Blog Editor
Shannon first volunteered for Amazon CARES in 2011, when she attended one of the infamous "Vets Abroad" trips to the Amazon! She works as a veterinary technician in North Idaho and plans to attend veterinary school. As a student of sociology and bioethics, her studies have focused on the relationships between society and animals, as well as animal welfare. She is an avid reader, baker, self-proclaimed Star Trek geek, and loves being outdoors, especially when backpacking in the beautiful Inland Northwest. Working in veterinary medicine, Shannon has spent the last decade rescuing and fostering countless critters. Her four-legged family includes seven cats, one dog, three rats, a guinea pig, and a bearded dragon.
Amazon CARES is extremely grateful to Dawn who has volunteered for years to make sure our donors receive personalized Thank You notes. She is a dedicated volunteer at the Golden Retriever Rescue of Wisconsin (GRRoW). Here she is with her dog, Trixie, hiking at Horicon Marsh in Wisconsin.
Amazon CARES would not be where we are today without the significant contributions of other US based volunteers such as Brandi Poole, Sarah Razmandi, Ana Garcia, Charles Franklin, Jeanette Harper, Gary Logan, Steve Schenck, Margaret Cook and the incomparable Linda Schwefel.
